New Legislative Framework
As of May 5, 2014, Law 4261/2014 came into effect, amending the existing legal framework governing mandatory car insurance.
The main changes introduced by the new law are as follows:
• Insurance coverage begins only after the full payment of the due premium, before which the insurance policy cannot be delivered to the insured.
• Insurance is proven by the insurance policy document.
• Automatic renewal of car insurance is abolished.
• The special insurance sticker is abolished.
• Temporary insurance and the temporary special sticker are abolished.
